iDrive

From the first generation introduced with the 7-series E65 in 2001 to version 9 in 2023, iDrive system has been synonymous with BMW infotainment.

iDrive 1 has most complex architecture with separate audio control, radio tuner, navigation drive, disc changer, phone module, amplifier and display all linked up via a fiber optic ring. The next generations combine navigation, radio tuner and audio/voice control into one package called the headunit installed in middle of the dash. Display is mounted high up connecting to the headunit using LVDS video cable.

Started with NBT (iDrive 4), Bluetooth fucntionalities also included inside the headunit.

We offer repair and supply of most popular iDrive equipment in the market. As BMW maintains 2 lines of equipment Business and Professional, so unless otherwise specified we mostly refer to equipment of Professional system.

NBT and NBT Evo

NBT starts in 2013 up to 2015, NBT Evo (iD5, iD5 and iD6) from 2016 to 2019.

Common probems with NBT/Evo system usually involves failing the internal HDD that firstly stops navigation from loading and later prevents the whole system from operating.

CIC and CCC

These are previous generation of iDrive Professional, running with radio/CD headunits wih built-in navigation. CCC (2003-2007) runs navigation from DVD and CIC (2008-2012) uses HDD.

Lower spec cars have Business system with smaller headunit (1DIN size equivalent) and smaller display (6.5") called M-ASK and CIC Business.

Older Models

Started from 1996 with 7-series E38 all the way to the end of X5 E53 in 2006, BMW used i-bus system for infotainment. The system has separate modules for radio tuner, navigation, screen, CD changer, phone/voice control linked up using a single wire communication bus called i-bus.

Many models of the time have joined the BMW legendary league such as E38 750i, E46 M3 and E39 M5. The system is also used in the Range Rover (Vogue) L322 during 2002-2004.

While most of the equipments have passed their shelf life, we continue to offer repair and supply of genuine parts to help keeping the ultimate driving experience alive.
